Life's Little Hiccups
#1 -- Locking Keys in the Car
When we overschedule our time, we get anxious. Relax, call the locksmith, and trust God's timing.
#2 -- Losing the Trail
Take a map. If you think you know where you are going (off the trail), you are probably delusional or dehydrated or both. Happy trekking.
#3 -- Traveling Alone
Wear a cape. People will run away in fear of being destroyed by your mystical powers.
Safe departure, safe return; life moves along its merry way. I hiked, climbed some boulders, ate good food, rode a train, and talked politics. I didn't realize I needed a vacation until it came to an end. Back in my room, I watch Andy sleep in exhaustion as I ponder the means for concentrating on the work before me. We are all alive but dying from pushing too hard against the world, so we ask Is the battle worth fighting?
Ecclesiastes 1,6-9 says:
6. Blowing toward the south,
Then turning toward the north,
The wind continues swirling along;
And on its circular courses the wind returns.
7 All the rivers flow into the sea,
Yet the sea is not full.
To the place where the rivers flow,
There they flow again.
8 All things are wearisome;
Man is not able to tell it.
The eye is not satisfied with seeing,
Nor is the ear filled with hearing.
9 That which has been is that which will be,
And that which has been done is that which will be done.
So there is nothing new under the sun.
There is futility in believing that our works will be fruitful. My hope, however, is in the promise of God. He will take care of me because he is good and, if I do what he asks, he will bless me. Precious ones, let us remember obedience above all else as our purpose in life.
This is my plea: that I might know the Lord to serve him better.
